Shoot’s first event at the National Portrait Gallery was a huge success. Brett and I double-teamed the presentation, with most of the participants having a higher than usual level of photographic experience. The result was some great photos and some tough decisions as to who won each of the categories. Such a brilliant location as well – the contestants got access to the Camille Silvy exhibition – who was both the first photographer to use props in his photos to characterise the individuals he was photographing and also the first Celebrity photographer. He took tens of portraits a day and kept a copy of every photo, in numerical order in a series of 8 massive volumes, a few of which were on display. Read more>
