Probably the only time I’ve gambled and ended up winning, apart from one time in Tahoe when I kept winning on the craps table. This time it was at the dogs. Somehow, seeing my Mum give her named prize to the winning dog on the dog track it seemed a strangely fitting way to spend the first part of Mum’s birthday with her family.
